The role of the Uintah County Weed Department
- Prevent the introduction of new noxious weeds into the County
- Manage the control of existing noxious weeds in the County
- Assist citizens with identification, control and management of noxioius weeds in the County

- Prevent the spread of noxious weeds on their properties.
Noxious Weed Control Programs
- The Weed Department may contract with private landowners, businesses, and government agencies to control designated State and County Noxious Weeds on noncrop lands only. For more information see the current Uintah County Weed Control Rules & Regulations. The Weed Department is generally available from April through October to assist with weed control projects.
- To avoid competition with private industry, the Weed Department DOES NOT contract with private citizens to control NON-NOXIOUS WEEDS. Non-noxious weeds may be controlled only when done in the process of controlling noxious weeds.
- As a general rule, the Weed Department does not spray bare ground herbicides, such as Roundup®, Krovar®, or Diuron®, for private or government entities.
- The Weed Department does not have, nor do they offer, equipment to cut noxious trees or other vegetation.
The Weed Department offers several programs that may affect the final cost of services to the citizens of the County.

Noxious Weed Control Spray Service Fees
Individuals, businesses, or government entities that own or control land in Uintah County may
contract with the Weed Department for noxious weed control according to the following fee
schedule:
BASIC FEES
- Spray Unit Fee: $100 per hour (discounts may apply, see below). A spray unit consists of a maximum of: two employees, one truck w/spray unit, one
trailer, and one ATV w/spray unit.
- Herbicide Costs: Current years bid price (discounts may apply, see below). Herbicide availability and prices may vary each year.
DISCOUNTS

Private landowners: 50% off the total cost of spray unit and chemicals. Minimum fee applies.
- Canal companies: 50% off the total cost of spray unit and chemicals. Minimum fee applies.
- Federal, State, Tribal agencies: NO DISCOUNT. Minimum fee applies.
- County Government entities: No charge
- A minimum fee: $50 plus 50% of “Herbicide Cost” shall be charged to all site
visits where herbicides are applied.

Retail Herbicide Cost-Share
Private landowners and canal companies, who possess or control land in Uintah County, Utah,
may qualify for a reimbursement of 50% of the cost of herbicides purchased for private, noncommercial
weed control. Government entities and commercial applicators are not eligible for
this program. To be eligible for reimbursement, participants must:
- Possess or control at least five acres of land in Uintah County (canal companies are
exempt from 5 acre rule)
- Purchase qualifying herbicides from any licensed herbicide vendor;
- Turn in a copy of their herbicide purchase receipts to the Weed Department. Receipts may
be turned in to the Weed Department during normal business hours, Monday through
Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reimbursement checks will be processed at the end of
each month. Receipts turned in after the last Monday of each month may be included in
the following months reimbursements.
Private landowners: 50% of the herbicide cost up to a maximum of $300 annually.
Private Canal Companies: 50% of the herbicide cost up to a maximum of $1,000 annually.
Qualifying herbicides: The Weed Department will reimburse for most herbicides under this program.
To avoid competition with private businesses, the Weed Department does not sale any herbicide, with one exception.
EXCEPTION: Plateau® herbicide may only be obtained through licensed government agents.
Herbicides purchased through this program may not be used by Weed Department personnel to perform contracted labor. All reimbursement requests are subject to funding for this program and
shall be subject to review by the Weed Supervisor.

Spray Unit Cost-Share
Uintah County citizens possessing or controlling property in Uintah County, Utah, may purchase
any spray unit with a capacity of 3 gallons or larger and receive a 25% reimbursement up to $100 from the
Weed Department. Limit one rebate per household every 3 years. All rebates are subject to
funding for this program. Simply complete the form and attach a copy of the sales receipt for the
spray unit purchase and turn it in to the Weed Department by December 20th.

Zone 5 Herbicide Restricted Areas
Some citizens of the County have special needs requiring an abeyance of herbicide applications on their properties. Citizens who may have health concerns, sensitive ornamental plants, animals or other special circumstances may apply for a "Zone 5 Herbicide Restriction." The Weed Department will provide signage to qualifying applicants which are to be posted at the specified zone. Herbicide applications will be restricted within posted zones according to the terms and conditions of the Zone 5 agreement. This is an ANNUAL AGREEMENT.
